Toyota Unveils 2026 Toyota C-HR: All-Electric Crossover Coming to Canada with 500 km Range
Toronto, ON – Carrookie Newsroom
Toronto, ON — May 26, 2025 — Toyota has officially announced that the 2026 Toyota C-HR, an all-electric compact crossover, will launch in Canada and the United States in 2026. This marks the return of the C-HR to North American markets, but now as a fully battery-electric vehicle (BEV) built on Toyota’s dedicated e-TNGA platform.
Two trims will be offered: the front-wheel-drive SE and the all-wheel-drive XSE. The SE variant is expected to deliver up to 500 kilometres of range, while the XSE will offer 465 kilometres and faster acceleration thanks to increased horsepower.

Performance, Range, and Charging
The 2026 Toyota C-HR SE produces 221 horsepower and features an estimated range of up to 500 km, ideal for Canadian urban and highway driving. The AWD XSE model boosts output to 338 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds. Both variants use a 77-kWh lithium-ion battery and come equipped with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, making them compatible with Tesla’s Supercharger network.
Under optimal conditions, the C-HR supports DC fast charging, allowing a 10% to 80% charge in approximately 30 minutes.
Safety and Canadian Winter Features
The 2026 C-HR will be equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, including advanced features such as Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Lane Departure Alert. It also comes standard with Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Safe Exit Alert.
To address harsh Canadian winters, Toyota has integrated battery pre-conditioning to maintain fast-charging efficiency in cold weather.
Dimensions and Interior Technology
Measuring 4,520 mm in length and offering 720 litres of cargo space behind the rear seats, the new C-HR is designed with practicality in mind. Inside, buyers can expect a modern layout with a 14-inch touchscreen, a digital gauge cluster, and dual wireless charging pads.
Toyota’s latest infotainment system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as connected services such as Remote Connect and Drive Connect trials.
Trim Details
- SE (FWD): Heated seats and steering wheel, power liftgate, 18-inch wheels, and rain-sensing wipers.
- XSE (AWD): 20-inch wheels, SofTex with suede trim, memory seats, and enhanced features like Lane Change Assist and Traffic Jam Assist.
